Overview of the webinar

Finance runs on spreadsheets, documents and repeatable processes, which makes it one of the functions that gains most from AI that can actually do the work. Claude Cowork is an AI agent from Anthropic that runs in the Claude desktop app. With permission to access selected folders, it reads invoices, statements, ledgers and reports, breaks a finance request into steps, and produces finished, review-ready outputs.

This session demonstrates Cowork on a set of everyday finance tasks: extracting data from a batch of vendor invoices into a structured AP register, reconciling a bank statement against the ledger and flagging unmatched items, performing a budget-versus-actual variance analysis in Excel with a management commentary memo, building a month-end close checklist and status tracker, and turning monthly results into a finance summary and leadership slides. It also shows how to schedule a recurring cash or expense report so it is ready without manual effort.

Participants will learn how connectors, plugins and skills extend Cowork into email, calendars and cloud drives, and how to capture their team’s formats and policies so every output stays consistent.

Because finance outputs drive decisions and face audit scrutiny, control runs throughout: limiting folder access, protecting confidential financial data, checking formulas and totals, and keeping a human review and approval step before anything is finalised or shared.

Why should you attend?

Finance teams spend a large share of every month on manual work: keying invoice data into spreadsheets, reconciling statements line by line, preparing budget-versus-actual variance reports, chasing close tasks, and rebuilding the same management packs. This work demands accuracy, yet it is repetitive and leaves little time for analysis and business partnering.

Claude Cowork, Anthropic’s AI agent for the desktop, can take much of this off your plate. It works directly with the files and folders on your computer, plans multi-step tasks, and delivers finished Excel workbooks, Word memos and presentations. In this session you will see real finance tasks automated live, with no coding involved. You will learn how to delegate finance work to Cowork safely, how to verify every number before it reaches stakeholders, and how to keep the review controls auditors expect. You will leave with practical use cases you can apply in your own finance function the same week.
